So Someone Said, "Funk In Time!"

Funk, as it relates to time, space, and sound can be scientifically explained. (photo/ A.  Krivec)

Scientific  answers and their explanations bend light atoms in the areas of   music, time, and sound.   Ultimately, we all must make sense of the universe and its inner workings from our own point of view. The ways described here might not make any sense to someone that  will not make sense out of what was said thus far. Consider this: objective facts can be found within scientific explanations. Funk is more than what many call for, since it speaks to a specific audience.   When we rise high in the sky, or dive deep beneath the sea, our ability to recognize Funk  resonates and creates a different reality. On planet earth, we can either choose to be real, or we can choose to fake the Funk. We can breathe and inhale, since the nose knows about every single nostril-sided smell. We  can always choose to know what time it is.

The mystery of sound is scientifically explained all through the research community. In the book, Physics and Music: The Science of Musical Sound, by Harvey E. White and Donald H. White, they explain that, “Over the years, it has been found that all measurable mechanical quantities can be expressed in terms of three fundamental units: length, mass, time.  All other quantities related to mechanics and sound, such as speed, velocity, acceleration, and force, can be expressed in terms of these three.” Some people feel the Funk, but can’t explain  anything about it, as it relates to its scientific units of measurement.  Some people intuitively know the answers within their minds, but might not be able to logistically list exactly what they see.

The truth is, we need a different way to breathe in whenever we are smelling, when in the midst of any serious Funk!  Those who originally created Funk often grew up in financially distressed environments and had to say, “Funk it.” That is what Bootsy  and Catfish Collins had to do. Conditions get Funky and many don’t make it from the other side of the doom. Survival was called improvisation. The ability to adjust and adapt. Just Funk.  Move through the residue and recognize Funk’s ability to change directions.  Eventually, everything unfolds, according to time.

No matter what they say, remember these facts. Funk ain’t gotta’ be abstract. It is based on the music.  That brings us to the matter of uncut Funk.  Symbolically, the atmospheric pressure that we experience underwater, as well as that ‘high’  that we get in flight is similar to none. In the sky, they say that the air gets thinner as we go higher.  Yes, we say the same thing all the time.  What does any of this have to do with Funk?  Funk is a moving aroma that becomes a permanent record in the Universe. Each Funky action is archived in sound and time, whether we know where to find it or not.

The book, Music, Physics, and Engineering, by Harry F. Olson speaks clearly about defining sound, saying that, “An explosion of a small balloon of compressed air produces one of the simplest forms of a sound wave.”  The end result is further explained when  Olson states how, “The sound wave travels outward in all directions at the velocity of sound, that is, 1,100 feet per second. The magnitude of the condensation and corresponding rarefaction falls off inversely as the distance from the point of explosion of the balloon.” Funk is the music, that is created by that sound.  The scientific explanation offers a view of where only a few have a clue. Harry F. Olson concludes by saying,  “Following the definition of a sound wave … it will be seen from the foregoing description that the disturbance produced by the bursting balloon constitutes a sound wave, consisting of a condensation or high-pressure pulse followed by a rarefaction or low-pressure pulse.” When it comes to sound, we know what we hear, but we can’t always explain the mechanics behind it.  Without a proper quote, make sure to double-check what we wrote. Too many times, we see something and believe it.  Make sure to look it up, so you can know it. All we know is that when we pop that balloon in the room, we ask whether or not we created a start point for some Funk, in time.
